Tom Filmer (winner of 2011 event)

The 2012 Abel Tasman Marble Mountain Classic mountain bike race, has unfortunnately had to be cancelled and it is hoped that our event will be held at a similar time in 2013.

The Abel Tasman Marble Mountain Bike Race for 2013 will be run in association with Adventure Nelson Ltd.

This event has been a fundraising project for the building of a new wing for the Jack Inglis Friendship Hospital in Motueka, with all entry fees donated to this project.

Set in some of the most spectacular scenery on earth, the classic is sure to please and challenge riders of all abilities.

The race starts and finishes at Kaiteriteri Beach, Tasman.

The ride is a circular track from the beach to the Marble Mountain (Takaka Hill) and return . . . . see race map.

Other features in this race add to its uniqueness:

  • Riders start and finish at the same location making it easier for support crews.
  • Amazing spot prizes:
  • Last year $6,000 was raised to assist with the building of the new Jack Inglis Friendship Hospital in Motueka.
  • The 2011 event will be held on Easter Sunday 24th April, please make a note not to miss out the event, why not take the opportunity to spend Easter and stay in Kaiteriteri and enjoy this part of the Top of the South.
  • The base for the classic is at the stunning Kaiteriteri Beach.
  • Plenty of accommodation.
  • Plenty of other fun activities: MTB can be seen as a sometimes selfish sport, having the race at Kaiteriteri allows the whole family and/or groups of friends to enjoy a weekend of fun!

2010 RESULTS

The event was held fine sunny conditions, with numbers well down on 2009, 75 starters lined up in the main road of Kaiteriteri.
