Marble Mountain Classic mountain bike classic

The 2009 Abel Tasman Marble Mountain Classic mountain bike race, as in previous years, continues to be a top rated event in the Tasman Distict.

The Abel Tasman Marble Mountain Bike Race for 2009 was run in association with Adventure Nelson Ltd.

Set in some of the most spectacular scenery on earth, the classic is sure to please and challenge riders of all abilities.

The race starts and finishes at Kaiteriteri Beach, Tasman.

Next years event (2010) will be held on Saturday 24th April, so, mark your calendar now.

The ride is a circular track from the beach to the Marble Mountain (Takaka Hill) and return . . . . see race map.

Other features in this race add to its uniqueness:

  • Riders start and finish at the same location making it easier for support crews.
  • Amazing prizes: International air travel prizes so get your passports ready.
  • This year $8,700 was raised to assist with the building of our new Motueka Community Hospital.
  • The base for the classic is at the stunning Kaiteriteri Beach.
  • Plenty of accommodation.
  • Plenty of other fun activities: MTB can be seen as a sometimes selfish sport, having the race at Kaiteriteri allows the whole family and/or groups of friends to enjoy a weekend of fun!

2009 RESULTS

After heavy overnight rain the event was held in fine conditions, with 150 starters lined up in the main road of Kaiteriteri.
